The Cedar Bend Humane Society has a trained and compassionate staff to offer euthanasia as a public service for families who have pets nearing the end of their quality of life.
Knowing when it is time
Your veterinarian can help you through this difficult process. They are best qualified to help determine if your pet is showing signs to indicate they are suffering. Euthanasia is often the most humane choice to end your pet’s suffering.
Once you have made this very difficult decision, please call 319-232-6887 to schedule an appointment with a Medical Technician at the Cedar Bend Humane Society, Monday through Friday. Special appointments may be arranged during the weekend by appointment only.
What to expect
Please bring your pet to the building with the white picket fence. There will be a short form to fill out. The procedure will take place in our medical lab. We understand that saying goodbye to a beloved pet is an incredibly difficult and emotional experience. Our team is committed to treating every animal with dignity, kindness, and compassion throughout the euthanasia process.
Pet owners are welcome to spend time with their pet before the procedure to say their final goodbyes. However, owners are not permitted to be present during the procedure, and our facility is unable to accommodate visits with pets afterward. We understand how difficult this may be and appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide compassionate care for every animal entrusted to us.
There are various costs involved depending on your burial or cremation choice.
Sleep requests cost $85 per animal.
