Adoption Counselor | Animal Care & Adoption Services

About the Role
Cedar Bend Humane Society is seeking energetic, outgoing, and compassionate animal advocates to join our Adoption Counselor team. Adoption Counselors play a key role in helping animals find lifelong homes while creating positive experiences for adopters, volunteers, and visitors. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both people and animals and wants to make a direct impact in the lives of homeless pets.
Schedule
  • 20–30 hours per week
  • Shifts between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Includes weekends and some holidays
Pay
  • Starting at $13.50 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
  • Guide potential adopters through the adoption process and help match families with appropriate pets
  • Process adoption applications, contracts, and related paperwork
  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors, adopters, volunteers, and community members
  • Answer questions from adopters and provide guidance on pet care and behavior
  • Handle and care for animals of various species, sizes, and temperaments
  • Clean and maintain kennels, cages, adoption areas, and shelter facilities
  • Complete office tasks and data entry
  • Assist with volunteer interactions, fundraising events, and shelter programs
  • Support daily shelter operations and assist other departments as needed
Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable handling animals of various species, sizes, and temperaments
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable balancing animal care, customer service, and administrative tasks
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Dependable with strong attendance and reliability
  • Must be available to work weekends and some holidays
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable transportation
  • This position involves signing legal documents; applicants must be 18+

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and cleaning

About the Role
Cedar Bend Humane Society is seeking a dependable, hardworking Dog Kennel Attendant to help care for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. This is a hands-on, active role that supports the daily care, health, and well-being of the animals in our shelter.
Schedule
  • 25–30 hours per week
  • Shifts vary between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Includes weekends and some holidays
Pay
  • Starting at $12 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care for dogs, including feeding, cleaning, and maintaining kennels and housing areas
  • Monitor animal health and behavior and report concerns to a supervisor
  • Handle, walk, and care for dogs of all sizes and temperaments
  • Support daily shelter operations, including laundry, dishes, and overall upkeep
  • Assist other departments as needed
Qualifications

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift
