CBHS is looking for people like YOU! Mutt Hutt Dog and Cat Boarding Kennel Attendant:
Cedar Bend Humane Society is now hiring for the Mutt Hutt dog and cat boarding facility. This is a part-time position, approximately 10-20 hours per week. We are looking for kennel attendants that are available to work weekends and holidays; some weekdays will also be required. Schedules will range between 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Applicants should be comfortable handling all types of dogs and cats, interacting with customers on a daily basis, and keeping the facility clean and organized. Duties also include computer skills.

Cedar Bend Humane Society is currently accepting applications for a part time medical technician. Applicants must be available to work on Fridays and Saturdays (No Sundays). Schedules will range between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. We are looking for dependable, motivated individuals that have some animal handling skills or background. The Cedar Bend Humane Society is currently accepting applications for Board Members! Applicants must have a passion for animals and be willing to advocate for the stray, neglected, and unwanted cats and dogs of the Cedar Valley!
The CBHS is looking for individuals that are interested in working as an active team member to help educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and assist with raising funds which allow the shelter to provide humane care for all animals under its protection.
This is a volunteer position requiring approximately five hours of time dedicated to CBHS each month. We are currently seeking candidates with fundraising experience!

CBHS Internship Program (Unpaid)
The CBHS Internship Program provides a wide range of opportunities for students to gain insight into the work of CBHS and a non-profit organization. CBHS is a 501c3 non-profit organization accredited by the Better Business Bureau and the only full service shelter in Black Hawk County. Every year a limited number of places for internships are available.
CBHS offers Internships in the following departments:
- Volunteer Programs
- Animal Care
- Special Events
- Behavior and Learning
- Marketing and Communications
Currently CBHS is offering internships for the Volunteer Program.
Minimum eligibility criteria to take part in the program.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program in a college or university, second university degree or higher, at the time of application and during the internship.
- A minimum of 18 years of age
- Approval from the department’s internship adviser and completed Internship Application Package should be turned in before starting the internship.
