
Cedar Bend Humane Society Furry 5K Run/Walk set for May 20
WATERLOO, IA – The Cedar Bend Humane Society's 14th annual Furry 5K Run/Walk fundraiser event is
scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at Big Woods Lake Recreation Area, south shelter,
in Cedar Falls. Individuals with dogs are encouraged to bring their canine companions along for the
event. All proceeds from the Furry 5K will benefit the homeless animals at the shelter.
Registration cost is $45 which includes a t-shirt and tote bag filled with goodies from our event sponsors.
T-shirts and tote bags are guaranteed to those registered by May 11th, 2023. Late registration (after May
11th) will not be guaranteed a t-shirt and tote bag.
Packet pick-up will take place at the Cedar Bend Humane Society Adoption Center, 1166 W. Airline Hwy.,
Waterloo, on Thursday, May 18th, from 3:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. and Friday, May 19th, from 12:00
p.m. through 3:00 p.m. Race day packet pick-up will be offered at Big Woods Lake from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45
a.m.
Participants will make two trips around the scenic Big Woods lake, joined by their furry friends, for an exciting
adventure they won't forget! There will also be sponsor booths hosting activities, contests, and giveaways
throughout the morning.
This event is not timed. Participants may run/walk on the paved 3.1-mile course at their leisure. You may
sign up to participate with your canine companions or run alongside all the cheerful pups at the race.
After a couple of years hiatus, CBHS is thrilled to welcome back a radio personality to offer music,
excitement, and more during the event. Kerri Mac and Johnny Marks with K92.3 will be joining us as this
year's emcees.

For everyone’s safety, please no retractable leashes; leash lengths no longer than six feet; no female dogs
in heat; dogs must be on a leash at all times; all dogs must be current on vaccines.
