MY STORY: Petunia came to Cedar Bend as an owner surrender.
AGE: Approx. 9 months
TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Shake
ABOUT PETUNIA: Petunia is quite the character! This beautiful girl is bouncy with a happy go lucky personality. She is an excitable, energetic dog that would benefit from leash training. She does tend to bounce around and pull on the leash. When the excitement is over, Petunia likes to be close to her handler, often snuggling up close for more affection. She is quite a cuddle-bug! When she wants more attention, Petunia will sometimes jump up on her handler.
During her evaluations, it was observed that Petunia becomes fearful and loses confidence in the presence of other dogs. She will bark and back away from them. Because of this, the best situation for Petunia would be to go home with someone that will know how to properly and safely introduce her to other dogs and will understand how to work with and socialize her. Petunia will require someone that can be firm, but patient and direct with her training. She has proved she can take correction well. With her age and intelligence, she may very well catch on to basic commands and behavioral work.
Otherwise, Petunia will need to be the only pet in the home.
Petunia did not test well with cats and displayed resource guarding with her food. It is recommended that Petunia does not go to a home with young children due to this.
Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.
