Karma

More/Less

MY STORY: Karma came to CBHS as an owner surrender.

AGE: Appx. 6 Years old

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit

ABOUT KARMA: Karma is a very sweet girl who can take a bit to warm up. This sweet girl becomes happy and snuggly once she learns that you are okay.

In Karma's previous home they had concerns about her behavior toward other dogs. At the shelter she is very nervous and shut down, but hasn't shown aggressive behavior toward other dogs. She appears very fearful when meeting them and walking through the kennel area. We are unsure how Karma would do once home in a comfortable environment. When introduced to the cat she completely avoided it. We have no history of her living with a cat and do not know how she would do once she was comfortable in a home. Karma may do best as only pet

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

Rey

More/Less

MY STORY: Rey came to Cedar Bend as an owner surrender.

AGE: Approx. 1 year

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, fetch

ABOUT REY: Rey is an active and energetic dog that likes to zip around the pens and sniff everything he can here at CBHS. Even when running around the yard, Rey comes back to his handler to check-in, wiggling his way onto your lap and giving big kisses. He is a friendly, social, and happy dog that loves the simple things: being close with his person and chasing after tennis balls! This sweet boy will win you over with his big smile and loving personality.
Rey will need to learn basic manners and obedience training. He can be very jumpy and tends to pull on his leash, but this boy is intelligent and treat motivated so he may be a great learner!
Rey would thrive in a home where he will have many outlets and activities to funnel his energy to good use.

Rey likes other dogs and would benefit from a playmate that would match his energy. He is very excitable and energetic and could be overbearing for other dogs. A meet and greet with other dogs is highly recommended before he goes home with some new roomies!
During his evaluation with a cat, Rey became very interested and fixated on it. Because he has no known history with cats, Rey would do best in a home without them.
Because of his high energy and wiggly body, Rey would do best in a home with older kids as he may unintentionally knock down small children.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

Petunia

More/Less

MY STORY: Petunia came to Cedar Bend as an owner surrender.

AGE: Approx. 9 months

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Shake

ABOUT PETUNIA: Petunia is quite the character! This beautiful girl is bouncy with a happy go lucky personality. She is an excitable, energetic dog that would benefit from leash training. She does tend to bounce around and pull on the leash. When the excitement is over, Petunia likes to be close to her handler, often snuggling up close for more affection. She is quite a cuddle-bug! When she wants more attention, Petunia will sometimes jump up on her handler.

During her evaluations, it was observed that Petunia becomes fearful and loses confidence in the presence of other dogs. She will bark and back away from them. Because of this, the best situation for Petunia would be to go home with someone that will know how to properly and safely introduce her to other dogs and will understand how to work with and socialize her. Petunia will require someone that can be firm, but patient and direct with her training. She has proved she can take correction well. With her age and intelligence, she may very well catch on to basic commands and behavioral work.

Otherwise, Petunia will need to be the only pet in the home.
Petunia did not test well with cats and displayed resource guarding with her food. It is recommended that Petunia does not go to a home with young children due to this.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

ABOUT CHRISSY: Chrissy spent some time with a foster family. Here is what they had to say about Chrissy's time with them:

Chrissy loves her toys! The squeakier, the better. She is a complete cuddler and will enjoy snuggling with you in bed all night. This gal is also easily house-trained. She can be dog selective, so we will require a meet and greet if there are any other dogs in the home.

Chrissy should go to a home without cats, and her previous owner suggested a calm home without children.

ABOUT HAZEL: Hazel is a wiggly butt extreme! She has energy to spare when she first meets you, but once you set off on your walk she focuses on the task at hand and calms down. She loves being close to you and does a strong doggie lean. She is petite-sized with a big, sweet, personality.

When Hazel was introduced to another dog at the shelter she was happy and playful. She was generous with doggie kisses and enjoys being in their company.

While meeting with a cat, Hazel was extremely fixated and "swam"/lunged towards it. We would recommend a home without cats.

MY STORY: Zena came to CBHS after her previous family moved and couldn't take her with them.

AGE: 3 years

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Shake, Lay Down

ABOUT ZENA: Zena has a super sweet personality, but is a bit anxious at the shelter. She has big floppy ears that are almost always perked up. The staff loves giving her yummy treats when she shows off all of her tricks.

Zena's previous family said that she only does well with male dogs and should not go to a home with a female dog. At the shelter, Zena was nervous and growled at a large bouncy male dog she met, but remained calm with a more mellow and medium-sized dog.

Zena would do best in a home without cats! She also lived with children ages newborn to 7 years and was a wonderful momma dog to them.

Kiwi

More/Less

MY STORY: Kiwi came to CBHS as a stray and has had puppies.

AGE: 3 years.

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit

ABOUT KIWI: Kiwi is a sweet girl who is nervous in the shelter environment. She can be slow to trust new people and will need a family who will be patient with her as she works on her socialization. Once she gets attached to 'her' person, she does get protective of them and her space. She opens up more easily to women and seems to have an aversion to some men.

We don't know Kiwi's history with dogs or cats. When introduced to another dog at the shelter she was not aggressive towards them but did not want the other dog in her space. She was interested and fixated on the cat so we would not allow a face-to-face meeting. Because of this, Kiwi would shine as the only pet in the household.

Kiwi came to us with an extremely nervous and apprehensive personality. When you would come to her kennel to take her out, you could tell by the look in her eyes that she was unsure and scared.

Kiwi spent some time in a foster home during her time at CBHS, and this is what they said about their time together:

Kiwi LOVES being by her human. Anywhere and everyone. She's house trained and does well with a crate/kennel. I have her go in there to get her treats and after pottying, and then she stays in there when I'm out of the house.

She doesn't like noises or fast movements but has done fine with fireworks so far. Kiwi doesn't like it when other dogs bark, and usually she barks in response. She's improving with having dogs around her, but on the other side of the fence ... unless they're barking.

She is a cuddly, shy, silly, and clingy girl!

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

ABOUT ROXIE: Roxie is a little shy with new people, but once you become friends she quickly blooms into a happy and bouncy girl.

She would love it if you had a dog at home for her to play with so long as they accept her rowdy play style.

Roxie came to us as a stray, so we're not sure how she'd feel about sharing her home with a cat. During her behavior assessment, she was extremely fixated on the cat, so a home without them may be best.

MY STORY: Sally came to Cedar Bend Humane Society as a stray.

AGE: 2 years

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit.

ABOUT SALLY: There's a good reason Sally's nickname at the shelter is Silly Sally. She is quite the character! She is a happy, bouncy girl with a lot of energy to spare! Sally would thrive in a home that has an active lifestyle--she would be a great running partner! This beautiful, sweet girl has as much love in her heart as she has energy. She will give kisses and snuggles, wiggling the whole time. Sally is food motivated and will happily sit for treats.
During her temperament evaluation, Sally was overbearing but did not react negatively towards them. She may do well with other dogs that can match her energy.
Sally is recommended to go to a household without cats, due to possible prey drive/fixation upon meeting them.
Because of her energy level Sally may do best in a home with older kids. She can very wiggly and bouncy and could potentially knock over small children in her excitement.
