Buttons

More/Less

MY STORY: Buttons was brought to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray in the local Cedar Valley. When she arrived to Cedar Bend, she was severely underweight, her nails were overgrown, she had a severe skin infection, and it appeared as though she had a littler of pups not long ago.

AGE: Buttons is about 3 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Buttons is a quiet, easy going girl who has a sweet personality. She is a happy girl who needs a little extra TLC. She gets along well with most dogs, and knows a few commands. When she first arrived, it appeared as if she had never been exposed to any toys. Since arriving, she has learned to love squeaky toys!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Buttons is looking for a home where she can finish healing her skin, as well as continue to put weight on her body. She is a sweet girl who longs for love! She will melt your heart!

Adoption fee: $190 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

Jay

More/Less

MY STORY: Jay was brought to Cedar Bend after being abandoned at a boarding kennel.

AGE: Jay is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: This high energy boy needs a nice fenced in yard to play with! He tends to become anxious when he is left alone, and would do best with someone who is home a lot, works from home, or could take Jay with them on a regular basis. Jay appears to know a few commands, and LOVES treats! He is a fan of toys, and enjoys playing with other dogs in the yard. He has a dominant personality, and does well with dogs who are submissive.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Jay is looking for a home with someone who is home a lot, works from home, or can bring him with. He gets anxious when he is separated from the people he loves. He would love someone who would throw a toy or ball for him in a yard, or someone who would go for walks on the nature trail.

Adoption fee: $190 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

Walter

More/Less

MY STORY: This sweet old boy arrived to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray in Black Hawk County.

AGE: Walter is about 9 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Walter is an older boy who wants to find a home that has someplace soft for him to take long naps. He is a guy who loves to get scratches, and seems to do well with people of all ages. He can occasionally be dominant when around other dogs, however, it is only to let them know that he is the boss. He should meet any dogs in the home prior to adoption. It is unknown if Walter has some hearing problems, or if he has selective hearing. He occasionally would rather do his own "Walter" thing, and not listen every once in a while. He is a sweet, gentle old boy, though!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Walter is looking for a home where he can get plenty of scratches and nap time. He would love someone who gives him a little TLC. When Walter arrived to Cedar Bend, he was missing a significant amount of fur on his rump area. It is unknown what caused this hair loss, however, it is believed that he had some old wounds that caused the fur loss. His wounds have all healed, and he is left with some scarring. He may not have the most beautiful coat, but he has one sweet, heart! Stop by to see this lovable boy!

Adoption fee: $100 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

MY STORY: Marco was brought to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray in the local Cedar Valley area.

AGE: Marco is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Marco is a boy who is pretty easy going, but does get excited occasionally; especially if you've got a toy! He can be a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly with time. He appears to know a few commands, and he loves jerky treats! Marco seems to do okay with most dogs, however, he often shows a dominant stance. Marco should meet any dogs in the home prior to adoption. Marco should not live in a home with cats.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Marco is looking for a home that will give him plenty of toys! He loves to play fetch, and play tug-of-war occasionally. Marco should meet all members of the household prior to adoption.

Jawa

More/Less

MY STORY: Jawa was brought to Cedar Bend from a partnering animal rescue organization called the ASPCA.

AGE: Jawa is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Jawa is a high energy girl that loves to get plenty of exercise! She enjoys keeping busy with chew toys, and running around in the yard. She doesn't particularly like being confined to a crate, but she doesn't mind as much when she gets a delicious treat or two. Jawa should meet all dogs in the home prior to adoption. It is also suggested that Jawa live in a home with adults, and an experienced dog owner.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Jawa is looking for a home where she can get plenty of exercise! She would likely do best in a home with an experienced owner, and maybe even having a doggy playmate to help her burn off some of her doggy energy. Jawa may make a good running partner with some practice!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Jawa is currently being treated for heartworms. Her diagnoses of being heartworm positive likely will not affect her in the long-run, however, it will be vitally important to keep Jawa on regular heartworm preventative to assure that she does not get heartworms in the future. Jawa will complete heartworm treatment prior to finalizing an adoption contract.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: This happy boy is full of energy! He loves to play with any toy that comes near him - especially rope toys! He knows numerous commands including sit, stay, come, and lay down. He does well with house training, and lets you know he needs to go outside by sitting by the door and whining. He loves to be brushed, and he would love to have a BIG yard to play in! He can be a bit mouthy when he plays, this being said, he may do best with older children. MY STORY: Faith was brought to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray.

AGE: Faith is about 3 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Faith is a shy girl, however, she warms up quickly. It is unclear what happened to Faith in the past, however, when she arrived, she had large scars on her body and ears that resembled either a chemical burn or something hot on her body that caused burns. It is unclear what the scars are from, however, the staff at Cedar Bend does know she is a bit shy around strangers. This being said, it will likely take Faith a little extra time to trust people. She seems to do okay with most dogs, however, she would prefer to be the only dog in the home. Faith is a sweet girl who appears to have had a difficult past. She just needs some TLC and love.

Willow

More/Less

MY STORY: Willow was brought to Cedar Bend after her previous owners felt that Willow deserved a home that could dedicate more time to her.

AGE: Willow is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Willow is a shy girl who takes a little bit of time to trust strangers. She can become nervous when strangers approach her too quickly, and sometimes cowers in fear. She needs someone who will help her build her confidence, and let Willow know that she can trust them. It does not appear that Willow has been exposed to many animals in her life, and is indifferent towards other dogs. Willow did appear to be gentle towards cats during her temperament test, however, it is difficult to determine how Willow would do in a home with a cat when she becomes comfortable.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Willow would do best in a home with mature children and adults. She desperately needs someone who will help her build her confidence, and learn basic leash walking behaviors. When Willow trusts you, she becomes very happy and bubbly, however, her energy level may be overwhelming for some small children. Willow's future adopters should understand that she will need some basic training and time to adjust to a new living environment.
