Wally

More/Less

MY STORY: Wally came to Cedar Bend Humane Society as an owner surrender.

AGE: 2 years

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Shake, Lay Down, High Five

ABOUT WALLY: Meet Wally! Handsome Wally is a very nice boy that absolutely loves attention and likes to be close to his handler. He is an energetic and happy-go-lucky dog that gets bouncy when excited. Wally could benefit from further training on a leash. Because of his energy level and how powerful Wally is, it is required he goes to a home with someone that has experience with large dogs/experience with his breed kinds.
Wally's previous owner has stated that Wally has a history of not getting along with dogs he was living with. Wally seems to prefer being the center of attention and can get jealous around other dogs. Wally will need to be the only animal in the home, though he may benefit from having dog friends outside of the home that he can go on walks together or playdates under attentive supervision.
Because of Wally's excitable nature, it is recommended he go home with older kids as he could easily knock down small children with his wiggly, bouncy body.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

MY STORY: Magoo came to Cedar Bend Humane Society as a stray.

AGE: 3 years

TRICKS & COMMANDS:

ABOUT MAGOO: Magoo is a very shy boy that takes his time warming up to people. This adorable boy is seeking a home with someone that will take the time to help socialize him and help him come out of his shell. He has shown us that when he trusts you, he is a very sweet gentle boy that enjoys being massaged and petted.
When introduced to other dogs, Magoo responded really well. He seems to enjoy their company and would do well in a home with a confident dog that will help him learn.
During the evaluation with a cat, Magoo was nervous around it. We are unsure how he would do in a home setting with a cat.
Due to fearfulness, we do recommend Magoo goes home with older children.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

MY STORY: Maggie came to Cedar Bend Humane Society as a stray.

AGE: 3 years

TRICKS & COMMANDS:

ABOUT MAGGIE: Maggie is a really sweet, loving dog that can be nervous and shy when introduced to new people. She takes a little while to really warm up, and is seeking a home where she will be given a lot of love and patience. She will need someone that is willing to work with her on socialization so she can be her best doggy self. When Maggie comes out of her shell she becomes a goofy, playful girl that loves attention. She gets the zoomies and will excitedly bounce around.
When Maggie was evaluated with other dogs, she became excited to see them. She may benefit in a home with a confident dog that she can learn from.
When introduced to a cat, Maggie became fearful around it. We are unsure how she would do in a home setting with cats.
Because she can be fearful at first, we recommend she goes home with older kids.

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

Sally

More/Less

MY STORY: Sally came to Cedar Bend Humane Society as a stray.

AGE: 2 years

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit.

ABOUT SALLY: There's a good reason Sally's nickname at the shelter is Silly Sally. She is quite the character! She is a happy, bouncy girl with a lot of energy to spare! Sally would thrive in a home that has an active lifestyle--she would be a great running partner! This beautiful, sweet girl has as much love in her heart as she has energy. She will give kisses and snuggles, wiggling the whole time. Sally is food motivated and will happily sit for treats.
During her temperament evaluation, Sally was overbearing but did not react negatively towards them. She may do well with other dogs that can match her energy.
Sally is recommended to go to a household without cats, due to possible prey drive/fixation upon meeting them.
Because of her energy level Sally may do best in a home with older kids. She can very wiggly and bouncy and could potentially knock over small children in her excitement.

MY STORY: Chrissy came to Cedar Bend as an owner surrender.

AGE: Chrissy is about 7 years old.

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Shake

THE QUALITIES CBHS STAFF HAVE OBSERVED ABOUT ME: Sweet, Cuddly, Affectionate, Curious

Chrissy spent some time with a foster family. Here is what they had to say about Chrissy's time with them:

Chrissy loves her toys! The squeakier, the better. She is a complete cuddler and will enjoy snuggling with you in bed all night. This gal is also easily house-trained. She can be dog selective, so we will require a meet and greet if there are any other dogs in the home.

Chrissy should go to a home without cats, and her previous owner suggested a calm home without children.

For more details on Chrissy please contact Cedar Bend Humane Society at (319)232-6887.

MY STORY: Dually came to Cedar Bend as a stray.

AGE: Dually is about 2 years old.

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Shake

THE QUALITIES CBHS STAFF HAVE OBSERVED ABOUT ME: Happy, Affectionate, Smart

Dually is looking for a home that will give him all of the attention he needs! He can seem high energy in his kennel, but when he is outside of his kennel he calms down and will show you how good of a boy he can be. Dually knows how to sit and shake, and will take treats nicely from you as a reward! He can be shy around fast movement but loves to be close to people.

Dually should not go to a home with cats as it was found that he has a high prey drive. He can be selective on dogs that he gets along with so he should meet any other dogs in your home prior to adoption. He can't wait to meet you!

For more details on Dually please contact Cedar Bend Humane Society at (319) 232-6887.

TRICKS & COMMANDS: Sit, Lay Down, Fetch

ABOUT FRANK: Frank is one of the most endearing dogs you could ever meet! He is a beautiful mastiff mix with sweet puppy eyes and a big squishy smile. His playful, goofy personality is sure to bring a smile to your face. Frank loves toys and is very playful. He will also fetch tennis balls but doesn't usually return them. He much prefers to play tag with you!
While Frank loves people, he has reservations with other animals.
During his temperament evaluation, he seemed tense around another dog and growled at him. A meet and greet is highly recommended.
When introduced to a cat, he became very interested and fixated. We are unsure how he would react to a cat in a home setting.

Whiskey could benefit from additional training but is otherwise a really fun, great dog.

***In the interest in placing Gonzo in a home where he will succeed, at this time we will only consider applicants that have had experience with the Akita breed***

MY STORY: Gonzo came to CBHS as a stray.

AGE: Gonzo is about 2 years old.

ABOUT GONZO:
Gonzo is calm, regal, and aloof…typical Akita personality. Gonzo is a dog that requires you to earn his trust before he will befriend you. He really seems to enjoy the company of other friendly canines and gets excited when introduced to other dogs. He was allowed to meet a dog-friendly cat at the shelter. It was hard to determine if he wanted to play or if he thought a game of chase was in order. We recommend caution introducing him into a family with cats.

Gonzo is looking for a home that has experience with the Akita breed. He does have the typical Akita tendencies where he seems to bond with his person and is not always excepting of visiting friends and family. He will need a home that has the time and knowledge to be able to integrate him into the family and teach him appropriate behavior when introduced to friends and family.

At this point, Gonzo does not seem to know any commands or tricks. He demonstrates housetraining skills as long as he gets out of his kennel on a regular basis. Gonzo is respectful to walk on a leash and loves to play with toys. We observe no resource guarding with the shelter staff.

This is a great dog that is both beautiful and loving. Gonzo is waiting patiently for that perfect person or family to come and give him a home. If you have experience with the Akita breed and are looking for a loyal and loving companion, please consider adopting Gonzo!

Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

ABOUT TANNER: Tanner is a big goofball that struggles to realize how big of a boy he actually is! He enjoys being close to people and has an outgoing, playful, and happy personality.
