Sonya

More/Less

MY STORY: Sonya was brought to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray in the local Cedar Valley.

AGE: Sonya is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Sonya is a gentle girl who loves to give kisses! She has a huge heart, and will search out people to love her and give her belly rubs. This being said, Sonya will even climb fences to get to those that she loves! She has grown a strong bond with multiple staff at Cedar Bend, and often escapes from her kennel only to try and find one of these people. She just wants all the love! She is a total sweet heart. She will steal your heart when you meet her! Sonya appears to do well with some dogs, but not all. She should meet any dogs in the home prior to adoption. Sonya should not live with cats - she would like to chase them if she got the opportunity.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Sonya is looking for someone who is home a lot. She enjoys being with humans, and may even make a wonderful trucking companion since she loves to be with people so much. Her future adopters should understand her escaping abilities, and be able to manage her escaping abilities by keeping her in a separate room (such as a bathroom or bedroom) while her favorite humans are briefly away, until she is able to be trusted to not escape. She truly only escapes because she wants to find someone she loves!

Adoption fee: $190 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and started on flea/tick prevention.

Wayne

More/Less

MY STORY: Wayne was brought to Cedar Bend from a partnering animal rescue organization based out of Iowa.

AGE: Wayne is about 6 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Wayne is a high energy boy who can be vocal when he wants attention. Once he has your attention, he is a calm boy who loves to snuggle. He is very curious, and is very easy going. He does appear to be very focused on cats when cats are present in the room, and would likely chase a cat if given the opportunity. This being said, he should not live in a home with cats.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Wayne is looking for a home that will give him a soft place to sleep and lots of love. He enjoys being close to his handlers, and is very gentle taking treats and toys. He is a sweet boy who deserves to find a loving home soon. He would likely do well with most children, and has gotten along well with other dogs while at the shelter. Wayne should meet all dogs and people in the home prior to adoption.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: When Wayne arrived to Cedar Bend, he had a severe eyelid protrusion, which is also known as a "cherry eye." Since arriving, he has had this injury corrected, and he is anticipated to make a full recovery. It is unclear if this eye injury will need any further medication or treatment at this time. Wayne is also heartworm positive, and will be receiving treatment for heartworm in the near future. He is anticipated to make a full recovery from his heartworm treatment, and should not experience many (if any) problems after his heartworm treatment. Wayne should continue to be on heartworm preventative after he receives heartworm treatment to minimize any additional risks that he has after being exposed to heartworms. Don't let these manageable problems frighten you, he is a wonderful boy who deserves to live a happy, healthy life!

MY STORY: Remy was brought to Cedar Bend after not getting along well with the family's cats in the home.

AGE: Remy is about 4 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Remy is an active dog who has a high desire to play with other animals. Occasionally, Remy can be too rough with other dogs and cats, and the other animals view Remy's playing behaviors as overbearing. Remy does excellent with children of all ages, has attended various events in the Cedar Valley that have children, and has also visited residents at a few nursing homes, on occasion. This being said, she loves people! Remy's previous owners noted that she does very well with house training, and will often let someone know she has to go outside.
