Stanley

More/Less

MY STORY: Stanley was brought to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray in the local Cedar Valley.

AGE: Stanley is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Stanley is a sweet, calm boy who gets excited when people he know arrive! He "smiles" when he gets happy, and loves to snuggle. He can be a bit nervous at first when new people around, however, once he discovers that you have treats, he becomes your best friend. He is a wonderful boy with a big personality!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Stanley is looking for a home where he can get plenty of love! He enjoys the company of other dogs, and has done well with children of varying ages. He appears to be very food motivated, and can occasionally be a bit grabby with treats. This being said, some children may find Stanley's food motivation a bit overwhelming. Stanley would likely do best in a home without felines - he would likely chase a cat if given the opportunity. One thing the staff at Cedar Bend do know, is that he will steal your heart!

Adoption fee: $190 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

BoBo

More/Less

MY STORY: This handsome boy was brought to Cedar Bend after his previous owner could no longer care for him.

AGE: BoBo is about 4 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: This big boy is a love bug! He has a happy-go-lucky personality, and loves to be the center of attention. He is very food motivated, and knows numerous tricks! He knows sit, shake, high five, stay, lay, speak, and maybe even roll-over! He is a ham, and he knows it!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: This big boy would love to find a home that could accommodate his size. He is a big boy who appears to be mixed with something other than Labrador (maybe mastiff?). He has done well with children of all ages, does well with other animals, and needs to learn a few manners when walking on a leash. He will steal your heart, that's for sure!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: BoBo appears to be a Labrador Retriever mix. He is very large for a lab, causing the staff to believe he may have mastiff or another large breed mixed with him. Regardless, he is full of love!

Adoption fee: $190 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and a start on flea/tick prevention.

AGE: Nitro is about 3 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Nitro is a happy, high energy boy who loves to play! You will often see him carrying a stuffed toy in his mouth! He enjoys spending time with people, and loves a good treat. He is very smart and knows a few tricks including sit, shake, and lay down. He would probably learn more tricks easy - especially since he loves food! He seems to do well with other dogs who enjoy playing. He may be overbearing for some dogs, this being said, he should meet any other dogs in the home. Nitro should not be in a home with cats.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Nitro is looking for a home where he can have plenty of exercise! He is a happy boy who loves to be with people. Willow

More/Less

MY STORY: Willow was brought to Cedar Bend after her previous owners felt that Willow deserved a home that could dedicate more time to her.

AGE: Willow is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Willow is a shy girl who takes a little bit of time to trust strangers. She can become nervous when strangers approach her too quickly, and sometimes cowers in fear. She needs someone who will help her build her confidence, and let Willow know that she can trust them. It does not appear that Willow has been exposed to many animals in her life, and is indifferent towards other dogs. Willow did appear to be gentle towards cats during her temperament test, however, it is difficult to determine how Willow would do in a home with a cat when she becomes comfortable.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Willow would do best in a home with mature children and adults. She desperately needs someone who will help her build her confidence, and learn basic leash walking behaviors. When Willow trusts you, she becomes very happy and bubbly, however, her energy level may be overwhelming for some small children. Willow's future adopters should understand that she will need some basic training and time to adjust to a new living environment.

Ross

More/Less

MY STORY: Ross was brought to Cedar Bend after his previous owner got a new job and felt that Ross deserved a home with someone who could offer him more attention and time.

AGE: Ross is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Ross is a sweet, big, happy boy who enjoys to be around people. His favorite thing to do is go for a run! He would probably make an excellent running partner for someone who enjoys running as much as he does! Ross enjoys going for car rides, is still learning basic obedience training, and is very happy when new people come to visit the home. Ross' favorite toys are rope toys and tennis balls. He knows numerous commands, and would likely learn more.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Ross has done well around children and many dogs in his previous home, and he would enjoy having a companion in his future home! He has done well with house training, and does well being kenneled while alone. He would make a great companion for an active family, or someone with a large fenced in yard.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Ross' breed is difficult to determine. He has a mixture of features which resemble various breeds. He may have shepherd, boxer, or labrador in him based off of varying features. As far as Cedar Bend can see, he is about 45 pounds of mixed breed dog that has a wonderful personality!

Pebbles

More/Less

MY STORY: Pebbles was brought to Cedar Bend from a partnering animal rescue organization called the ASPCA.

AGE: Pebbles is about 4 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Pebbles is a shy, reserved girl who needs some confidence builders. She needs encouragement when walking on a leash into unfamiliar areas, and takes a while to become comfortable in a new location. Pebbles would be best as the only pet in the home, and should be with someone with dog handling experience. She is very loving and gentle once she knows you.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Pebbles is looking for a home with someone who has experience with dogs. Pebbles came from a rough past, and is looking forward to a positive, loving home ahead of her. She needs time to become comfortable, and needs someone who will be patient with her. Pebbles has a lot of fear from improper socialization, and it will take some time for Pebbles to learn to trust again.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Pebbles appears to be a mixed breed. It is difficult to determine what breeds Pebbles identifies with due to so many different features being present. Pebbles is about 35 pounds, has a short stature, and has rounded ears. Pebbles shows various features which could indicate possible basenji, terrier, heeler, or corgi features. Without a DNA test, it is impossible to know her true breeds!

AGE: Jill is about 2 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES:Jill is a happy girl who loves when people come to visit her! She loves her brother, Jack, however, she isn't overly fond of other dogs. This being said, any other dogs in the home should meet Jill prior to adoption. Jill has done well with children of all ages, and LOVES treats! It is suggested from Jill's previous rescue that she does not live with farm animals such as rabbits, chickens, or goats. WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Jill is looking for a home where she has plenty of love and exercise! She is an easy going girl who would love an active home. She loves her brother, Jack, and the staff at Cedar Bend would love to see them go home together (although it is not required).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Jill is the sister to Jack, the other chocolate Labrador mix that is available from Cedar Bend. They have been together since birth and do very well with each other. Although it isn't required to adopt the two together, Cedar Bend does know they do very well together and would make a great pair for someone who is looking to adopt two dogs.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Spike is looking for a quieter home where he can, preferably, be the only pet. He does okay with some dogs, but he would rather not have to share his favorite humans. He has done well with all ages while at the shelter, but his energy may be overwhelming for some small children. It is suggested that Spike meets any people that live in the home prior to adoption. The staff at Cedar Bend absolutely love Spike, and hope to see him find a home soon.

Duncan

More/Less

MY STORY: Duncan came to Cedar Bend after being found as a stray in Black Hawk county.

AGE: Duncan is about 5 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Duncan is a happy guy who is searching for a loving home! He enjoys treats, tennis balls, and knows how to sit on command. Duncan does appear to have some resource guarding tenancies, and Duncan's future home should be aware of this potential possibility. Duncan should be left alone while eating, and should only be given rawhides when he can be left alone. Duncan should be the only pet in the home due to his possessive tendencies.

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Duncan is searching for a home that has dog handling experience. Duncan can only be adopted to a home without children and other pets due to his resource guarding. He would love to find a home that has a yard so he can play fetch, and go for plenty of walks!

Adoption fee: $190 - Adoption fee include spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, microchip, and started on flea/tick prevention.

Boone

More/Less

MY STORY: Boone was brought to Cedar bend after he was not adjusting well to his owners busy schedule and having to be confined in a small space during the day.

AGE: Boone is about 6 years old.

MY STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES: Boone is a loving, happy boy with a big personality! He love to give kisses, and he LOVES to be outside playing! Boone is not fond of having to be confined to a crate for long periods of time, and needs a home where he can consistently be let outside to learn proper bathroom habits. A doggy door may even be a plus for him! His hound nose is very driven to tracking and may even make a possible hunting dog for someone willing to give him a try!

WHAT TYPE OF HOME AM I SEARCHING FOR: Boone is searching for a home where he could have lots of time outdoors in a large fenced in area. He has lots of energy and would love to have a playmate! His energy level may be overwhelming for some dogs or small children, so all dogs and family members should meet Boone prior to adoption. Boone should not live in a home with cats. Boone would love to find a home that had plenty of time to dedicate to Boone
