One
of our most highly anticipated events is coming around again. The 9th annual
Neuter-A-Tomcat clinic will be hosted by area veterinarians during the month of
February.
During
the clinics, vets will neuter stray tomcats for just $10. This fee is a
donation that goes directly back to the Cedar Bend Humane Society. Some clinics
will also provide rabies shots.
The
purpose of this event is to help stop pet overpopulation. Last year, the Cedar
Bend Humane Society took in over 10,000 animals. Our building was originally
built to take in only about 3500 animals annually.
Obviously,
pet overpopulation is increasingly becoming more of a problem. By hosting the
Neuter-A-Tomcat clinic, we are helping cut down on unwanted litters. This
reduces the number of animals that are brought to us to care for and
potentially adopt.
Unfortunately,
many of the kittens from unwanted litters arrive in poor condition. They are
often too ill to safely care for without endangering our other animals up for adoption.
In a shelter environment, disease travels quickly and it is our top priority to
adopt every animal available for adoption into a loving forever home.
Please
do your part in helping to stop pet overpopulation by calling a participating
clinic listed below to schedule a date and time to have your tame farm cats and
tame stray cats neutered.
