Stray From the Heart
The Cedar Bend Humane Society hosted Stray From the Heart, a fundraiser celebrating the new adoption center. Over 80 guests visited the beautiful Sky Event Centre in downtown Waterloo on Saturday, November 7. Party-goers enjoyed music by the talented harpist Susan Holland as they sipped cocktails and viewed and made preliminary bids on 60 silent auction items. After a champagne toast, the crowd enjoyed a dinner of steak and chicken, roasted red skin potatoes with herbs, a vegetable medley and chocolate cake overload or New York style cheesecake. The evening was highlighted by slide shows of the adoption center construction process as well as photos of current and past shelter residents. A live auction capped off the night as guests bid on items from autographed Dan Gable posters to a trip to Galena and a surprise western adventure sponsored by co-directors Karla Beckman and Kristy Gardner. Celebrity emcees Chris Carter and Mark Schnackenberg entertained guests during the auction, which was conducted by Rich Greenlee.
